Carl Wesley Shuler

Carl Wesley Shuler TSgt.USAF, Ret. 91, died Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Memorial University Medical Center. The native of Santee, South Carolina moved to Savannah in 1950. He retired in 1967 from the United States Air Force where he served during World War II, Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. After retirement from the military, he attended Draughon's Business College and Savannah State College. He retired from the Savannah Chatham County Board of Education in 1983. Mr. Shuler was a member of Bible Baptist Church; Solomon's Lodge No. 1 F.&A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies, Alee Temple Shrine, past president of the Carnival Unit 1991-92, and the Order of the Eastern Star in Missouri. His first wife, Christine Frances Weaver Shuler preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife Dolly Shuler of Savannah; children, Carlene S. Brown, Susan S. Bowman and Sandra S. DeBerry all of Anderson, SC; Carl D. Shuler of Pooler; Michael L. Shuler of Savannah; sister, Beulah Estelle Fogle of Orangeburg, SC; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral: 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Bible Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Dr. Herbert F. Hubbard and Reverend Thomas East. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Entombment: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Mr. Schuler and I became friends when I began making deliveries to his home. He was always pleasent and took time to speak with me. He spent a lot of time in the yard, and would wave whenever he saw me drive by. I'll miss seeing him...
