John Joseph "Jack" Holland III

SAVANNAH - Jack Holland passed away Friday, December 29, 2012.

He was born in Savannah on February 17, 1932 to the late John J. Holland, Jr. and Mary Martin Holland. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Anne White Holland.

Jack retired from Hercules, Inc. after 33 years of service. He was a proud member of the Cathedral Day School Drum & Bugle Corps, and a graduate of Benedictine Military School class of 1950. One of Jack's fondest memories was catching the game-winning touchdown pass in the 1948 BC-SHS Thanksgiving Day Classic, the Cadets' first victory over the Blue Jackets in a decade. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5588 and Council 631, Savannah Old Timers Softball Club and a charter member of the Irish Heritage Society.

Jack is survived by his three children, Pat Holland Margaret, Jan Holland Ethridge Jay, Tom Holland, and grandchildren: Patrick & Peg Holland, Kate & John Ethridge, and Jack, Anne, and Jan Holland; and his sister, Mary Anne Holland.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm with a Vigil Service to be held at 6:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 2, 1013, at St. James Catholic Church. Burial will be private.
