Mildred Crabb Ambos

Mildred Crabb Hatfield Ambos, 90, died Friday, January 11, 2013 at Azalealand Nursing Home. She was born in Dublin, Georgia daughter of the late John Milton and Lizzie Raffield Crabb.

Mrs. Ambos was affiliated with Trade Winds Company for many years where in the 1950's she was instrumental in the development and formulation of freezing breaded shrimp. After retirement, she was the owner of the Front Porch Boutique in Thunderbolt. She was a volunteer for many years with the Candler Hospital Gift Shop, member and volunteer at of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church and a former member of the Savannah Yacht Club and the Chatham Club. She was preceded in death by husband, Henry F. Ambos, Sr.

Surviving are her children, Joy Hatfield Cargill of Hilton Head Island, SC; Janet Hatfield Michael Blackstone of Jacksonville, FL; G. Andrew Ambos of Savannah; step-children, Louis Getz Suzanne Ambos, II of Savannah; Rosemary D. Henry, Jr. Ambos of Savannah; Lena Ambos Freedy Meeks of Savannah; grandchildren, Cindy Cargill Tom Brown of Bluffton, SC; Kristen Cargill of Hilton Head Island, SC; Millie Cargill of Oregon; R. Keith Williams of Savannah; Robin A. Williams of Jacksonville, FL; Jason S. Ambos of Savannah; Emily Ambos of Oxford, MS; Noah Ambos of Little Rock, AR; Laurie Meeks Frazee of Savannah; Matthew Meeks of Statesboro; Charles Tori Ambos of Lexington, SC; David Julie Ambos of Key West, FL; Pete Patti Nesbitt of Austin, TX; Louis Getz Ambos, III of Savannah; Harold "Hal" Carter Nicole Ambos of Savannah; Andrew "Drew" Liz Ambos of Savannah; siblings, Ray W. Hatfield of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Betty H. Carbo of Savannah; Wanda H. Stuckey of Bluffton and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 14, 2013 at Isle of Hope United Methodist Church.

Burial: The Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
