Richard Orlin "Dick" Williams, 74, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Memorial University Medical Center, due to injuries received in an automobile accident which occurred Saturday, January 19, 2013. He was born in Oakland, California and was a graduate of the University of Nevada at Reno. Richard served his country in the United States Army, mostly working in secret intelligence.
He worked for many major construction companies during his long career as a Mechanical Engineer, to include Bechtel Construction Company, and finally retiring from Beers Construction Company. He and his wife moved to Savannah 14 years ago so that he could help with the construction of the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center.
Through his life, Dick relished flying private planes, sailing, skeet shooting, and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Miller Williams, of Savannah, his son and daughter-in-law, Erik Scott Williams Liz, and three grandsons, all of Reno, Nevada.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Interment will be at later date in Reno, Nevada.
