John B. Thompson, II
September 20, 1919 - February 05, 2013
Savannah - John B. Thompson died Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Spanish Oaks Retreat under Hospice care at the age of 93.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Brown Thompson. He was born and raised in Crockett, Texas. After joining the Army Air Corps in 1939, he was transferred to Savannah where he met and married Mary, his wife of 70 years. He served in WWII in New Guinea on B-25's and in Korea. After serving in the Air Force as Chief Master Sergeant at Hunter Air Force Base, he retired in 1962. He was then employed at Kaiser Chemical until he retired in 1981. He is survived by his children, John Thompson III Linda, Eddie Thompson Eva, Cathy Thompson Spivey Mike, and Jimmy Thompson Lori; 9 Grandchildren; and 21 Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 5-7 pm at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The funeral service will held at 1:30 pm Friday, February 8 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Harold Thompson, Kenny McDonald, Jamie Thompson, Stephen Ralston, Brian Gilbert, and Miles Simmons. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
To the Thompson Family, I had the pleasure of visiting with John at Spanish Oaks. We had some interesting conversations and he enjoyed our music sessions. I will miss him.

I always enjoyed seeing your dad at Spanish Oaks. I would always look for him when I was there with Robert. It was such a pleasure to have met such a gentleman. I know you will sorely miss your dad, but we know he is in Heaven with God and his wife for their happy reunion.
