Thomas McLane Ward

Thomas McLane Ward, 76, passed away, Sunday, February 3, 2013. He was born in New Orleans, LA, son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Xuripha Middlebrook Ward. Mr. Ward was reared in Freeport and DeFuniak Springs, FL. During high school, he met the love of his life, Beverly Salathe and after graduation, he attended Emory University in Atlanta. They married in 1956 and moved to Tallahassee, FL where he joined IBM, later moving to Albany, GA and moving to Savannah in 1968 where he retired after 25 years of service. He was a former Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader, avid photographer, cyclist, wood worker and tennis player. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Fayla Hare.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Beverly S. Ward of Savannah; children, Thomas M. Ward II and his wife, Vivian of Orlando, FL; Walter M. Ward and his wife, Nicole of Radford, VA; Susan M. O'Brien and her husband, Christopher D. of Fayette, AL; Jill Elizabeth Wilson and her husband Larry E. of Beaufort, SC; nephew, Ricardo del Real of Florida; sister, Genevieve Adams of Crestview, FL; grandchildren, Reagan, Tommy, Allison, Emily, Sarah, Meghan, Charley, Abby; great grandchildren, Levi, Caleb, Brennan, and other nieces and nephews.

Memorial service: 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 8, 2013 in the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors conducted by Pastor Kevin Phipps. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
