Celebrating the life of

Francis Earl "Frank" Aliffi, Jr.

Passed away on May 19, 2019

Francis Earl

Francis Earl “Frank” Aliffi, Jr., age 70, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away after a courageous battle with lung cancer on May 19, 2019, with his wife by his side.

Frank was born of July 22, 1948 in Savannah to Francis Earl “Frank” Aliffi, Sr. and LaVeta Felton Aliffi.  He was a 1966 graduate of St. Joseph High School in Atlanta, Georgia and a graduate of Georgia State University in Atlanta, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity.

Frank served in the United States Coast Guard Reserves from 1968 to 1974.

Frank is survived by his wife, Jane Jones Aliffi, of Savannah; his daughter, Anna Aliffi, of Savannah; and his brother, Otto Aliffi and his wife Pat, of Seffner, Florida; step-father, Jorgen Boriths, of Palm Coast, Florida, as well as nieces and nephews, cousins and brother-in-laws.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Shoemaker Aliffi, his daughter, Valerie Aliffi, and his parents, Frank and LaVeta Aliffi.

Frank was employed by Crane Carrier Corporation for many years and lived in Tampa, Florida; Los Angeles, California; and Peachtree City, Georgia before moving back to Savannah, Georgia where he founded a corporation named Heavy Duty Savannah.

Anyone who knew Frank, knew of his great talent on the golf course.  He loved golf as much as he loved his life.  He began playing with his father as very young man and continued until his health would not allow him.  He won more tournaments over his lifetime than he could remember and was proud of the 14 hole-in-one’s he was lucky enough to sink over the years.  Frank was a member of Southbridge Men’s Golf Association in Savannah.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2019 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

In lieu of flower, the family asks that donations be made in Franks’ memory to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 161 N. Clark, Suite 3550, Chicago, IL 60601 or mda.org.

Frank Was a great guy he will surely missed

- JAMES R PERKINS, Savannah, GA

It was a real pleasure to know Frank and be around him. He was funny and witty and a real gentleman. He will be surely missed by all who knew.

- Walter Kress, SAVANNAH, GA

I met Frank of course where else, on the golf course. Tom Harris, his great friend and usually beaten golf appointment, were two of my first meetings at the Southbridge Golf Course. Frank immediately took me under his wing, paving the way with the club pro to get me engaged and being a member of the very active golfing group. I was a complete stranger taken under his wing like a lost soul. Frank was most generous with his friendship and held the respect of every one who knew him. I am aware Frank had a lot of tragedies and bad luck in life,, which not only befell him in family and business, but he once unbelievably lost to Tom Harris on the golf course.. My minimum contact with Frank was inspirational and has armed me much better for bad days and tragic events, Frank was a model of how to face life and succeed. Frank will be missed by so many. I will see him some day inside the Pearly Gates on the first tee. Frank, God bless you and yours.

- Michael Bever, Vero Beach, , FL
