W.L. Council
Waldo Lawrence "Larry" Council died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Hospice Savannah, Inc. Larry as born in Durham, NC on November 3, 1929. He attended Duke University before serving in The Korean War with The U.S. Army. He moved to Savannah in 1961. Larry was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, and worked for The Savannah Morning News and The Savannah Evening Press. After having a stroke in 1994, Larry became active in the local stroke groups.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel M. Council. He is survived by three children, Kenneth Council of Houston, Texas, Jan Creech George of Tifton, Georgia, and Derek Council of Savannah.
The graveside funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013 in The Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
