Mildred Witt Pender

Savannah- Mildred passed away on March 16, 2013 at the age of 99, four months prior to her 100th birthday of 07/16/1913.
She was a native Savannahian, the daughter of the late John Edward Witt and Annie Ruth White Witt. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, James Franklin Peanut Pender.
She was of the Baptist faith, also attended White Bluff United Methodist Church, Senior Friendship Club.
Her employment for many years began with World War II at Southeastern Shipbuilding. She was also employed with Central of Georgia Railroad and with State Port of Savannah. She opened her own flower shop, Pender's Flowers, but had to close due to ill health. Her longevity was due to the careful attention and care for 18 years with Dr. Arthur Charmatz, now deceased. Mildred was a resident for many years at John Wesley Villa and most recently at Riverview Rehabilitation when she passed.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Witt, JL Chic Witt, and John Wesley Witt, Sr.
Mildred is survived by a sister, Evelyn Witt Bunger; three sisters-in-law, Joyce Witt, Julia Deason Witt, and Frances Pinkie Witt; three nieces, Nancy Witt, Barbara Witt Gustin, and Diann Witt Webster, and two nephews, Joseph JJ Witt, and John Wesley Witt, Jr.
Visitation: Tuesday, March 19, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Graveside Service: Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery with the Reverend Craig Pope, pastor of Montgomery Presbyterian Church, officiating.
