David Julian Ciucevich, Sr.
SAVANNAH- David Julian Ciucevich, Sr., 84, died peacefully Monday, April 29, 2013 after a long illness. He was born September 23, 1928 to Edward J. and Louise Melcher Ciucevich. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers- Joseph Sr. Irene, John Mary, Gilbert Zena, Edward, Walter Betty, his identical twin William, his sister, Louise Ciucevich Sullivan Pat, and his brother-in-laws Joseph and William Davis. David was a lifelong resident of Savannah, born and raised in the Troupe Square neighborhood of the Old Fort District. He has fond memories of kicking footballs with his brothers into soup pots on the square. His father owned and operated Acme Plumbing Co.; he attended Cathedral Day School and graduated from Benedictine Military School in 1948. He served in the US Navy and frequently reflected on his frigid service in the north Atlantic. He also worked at Travis Field and the Georgia Ports. He retired from Savannah Electric and Power Co. after 33 years of employment with an Air Conditioning Certification through Savannah Vocational Tech. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 50 ½ years Helen Marie Davis Ciucevich; a son David Jr. Shannon Keyes, a daughter Diane Ciucevich Parker Keith, a son Edward Cheryl Anderson, and his only cherished grandson Jed. He is also survived by his dear sister Juliana Ciucevich Paige; his sister-in-law Nora Griffin Ciucevich; brother-in-laws John Davis niece Tabatha and Arthur Davis Brenda and niece Karen; sister-in-law Elaine Davis nieces Pam, Sherrie and Terri, and especially his twin brother's daughters Dawn Ciucevich Cameron Terry and Julie Ciucevich whom he and Helen raised for some time; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. David enjoyed reminiscing about the sailing trips he took with his father, Capt'n Ed, and his brothers on Sloop John. David used his "geechee" charm and wit to warm the hearts of everyone he touched. Always remember to "hold 'em in the road." The family would like to thank the doctors who were committed to his care: Drs. Wojnowich, Usher, Yannucci, Pablo, Mullins, Daniels, Horovitz, Reeves, Bosque, and Torres.
