Lucille Bowen Allen Griffin

Lucille Bowen Allen Griffin, 96, passed Monday April 29, 2013. She was a native of Bulloch County, Georgia, but lived most of her adult life in Savannah, GA. She was the daughter of William G. Bowen and Carrie Croft Bowen. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, George Allen; also by her second husband John Griffin.

She is survived by her children: Gail Allen Murphy and her husband Charles; Gary Allen Sr. and his wife Marion. Her grandchildren: Gigi Murphy Vollinger and her husband Kurt of Savannah, GA; Richard Murphy and his wife Elizabeth of Atlanta, GA; Gary Allen Jr. and his wife Laurie; and Christopher Allen of Savannah, GA. Her great grandchildren: Austin Allen, Claire Allen, Christopher Allen, Aidan Murphy, Patrick Murphy, and Kathryn Murphy of Atlanta, GA.

She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church since 1944. She was very active in her church and numerous organizations. She was leader of The Gladys Greenlee Circle and a longtime teacher of the Friendship Sunday School Class and was recognized for her work in special missions as a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Women. She lived her life as a loving mother, grandmother, friend and homemaker. She enjoyed playing bridge with many friends. Her greatest loves were her church, family and sports. She attended all of her children's and grandchildren's sporting activities throughout the years. She was a passionate fan of the Atlanta Braves and rarely missed a game. She will be remembered for her superb southern cooking and hospitality as well as her great love for her family.

Special appreciation is given to her Caregivers: Michelle Chisholm, Judie Williams, Ruthie Lewis, and Rosalind Jackson.

Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time.

Burial will be private.

Remembrances may be given to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2020 Tennessee Ave., Savannah, GA 31404.
