Benito Taruffi
SAVANNAH - Benito Taruffi, 81, retired Italian Navy Rear Admiral of Bologna, Italy, died June 12, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital, after a short illness.
He was preceded in his death by his wife of 44 years, Maria Sofia.
After graduating from the Naval Academy in Livorno, Italy he began a long and fulfilling Military career. He believed education was a vital part of his personal growth and likes, and after retirement he continued studying, receiving a Master Degree in American History at Armstrong Atlantic State University.
Benito is survived by his daughters: Annamaria Brancato Dr. Salvatore Brancato, Paola Taruffi and Maria Grazia Taruffi; his two grandchildren: US Army Cpt. V. Paul Brancato and Nicole Brancato.
Benito lived life to the fullness. He loved traveling, reading and studying. He wrote books, loved to paint and enjoyed listening to music.
He was a 32nd KCCH member of Scottish Rite Freemasonry and Alee Shriners of Savannah, Ga.
Benito touched the lives of many people with his exuberance, love of live and with a warm and caring heart.
The family will receive friends from 6pm until 8pm on Friday June 14, 2013 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
The funeral Service will be held at 11am Saturday June 15, 2013 at Fox and Weeks Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
