Jimmy was one of the best. He was our outstanding President at Savannah High. He always had a good word for everyone and a big smile. We will miss his dynamic personality but I see a lot of it in his son the Rev. Wylly Collins a Presbyterian Minister in Montgomery, Alabama. God bless the Collins family and thanks for letting us enjoy Jim while he was here with us.

My deepest sympathies to all you children. Your dad was one of the kindest men I have ever known. For all of the years that we worked together at Miller, and all the years since then, he was alway a close friend. He also exhibited what it meant to be a Christian and a gentle man. I will miss all of his jokes and words of encouragement, sharing stories of our families, and his always late Christmas greetings. It was my blessing to have known him.

Jim and I share many childhood memories of each other and of our families who were very close. College separated us and careers took us in different directions, but I was so appreciative of our renewed friendship. I will miss our conversations. I know he was very proud of his family and the success of his children. My sympathy to all.

- W. Daniel Heidt, Bellevue, WA

I send my heart-felt sympathy to Jim’s family and friends. I served with Jim on St. Michael’s Hospital Board and several committees. He holds my gratitude, admiration and prayer. Sr. Dawn Capilupo, OSF

II Timothy 4:7 'I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.' In loving remembrance of Jim, who I enjoyed having for a friend as well as family. My son-in-law Wylly has been a gift to my life from both he and Betty. Jim and I also shared our love and pride in Kristin/Wylly's four children: Amy, Melissa, William, and Nathaniel. Jim's life to me exemplified Ephesian 2:10: 'For we are God's workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do.' I am sorry to not be able to attend the memorial service to honor him, as I know that so many others will share of how Jim blessed their lives, and that would be a joy to hear. I am thankful for his life lived in faithful testimony of his trust in Christ for salvation. My many prayers and thoughts are with all of his children and grandchildren during this time, that they will be blessed with peace and comfort. Love and hugs across the miles from Missouri, Suzi Sluis

When Jim first started working at Miller Brewing Company, he wanted to acquaint me with southern foods. First a package of grits. Then one morning I noticed on my desk there were several objects that at first glance looked like it came out a litter box. Upon closer inspection, I discovered the new treat. Boiled Peanuts!still a bit soggy After that, Jim and I shared many jokes and good humor about boiled peanuts, work and life. He was a very kindhearted man and always tried to see the best in people or situations. I have many fond memories of Jim. My deepest condolences to the family.

Jim was a very special man and we count ourselves lucky to have met him. It was always a pleasure to see him and we enjoyed his sitting on the patio with us and sharing his thoughts and stories of his life. We feel such sadness because such a bright light has been diminished. As his body has been restored, I KNOW he will be in charge of something in HEAVEN!!!

I worked under Jim in the Tax Dept. at Miller Brewing Company in the 1980's. He was a top-notch professional, but what really impressed me was his leadership style. He was very supportive. Even if he had a criticism he managed to word it in a way that made you feel good. He would have been a terrific diplomat. He also had a geat sense of humor. One would want to do his/her best to live up to Jim's professionalism and as a way of showing gratitude for his support. Witnessing his ways has made me a better tax professional and a better person. My deepest sympathies on your great loss.
