Hyldred "Teri" Horton Bridges

Hyldred "Teri" Horton Bridges, 93, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2012, at Buckingham South under the care of Hospice Savannah. Born in Indiana, she moved to Atlanta in 1943 where she lived until relocating to Savannah in 2011.

Teri was known for her upbeat personality, colorful style, and her love of family and church. She had an early career in nursing and later committed over 6000 hours of service to the Piedmont Hospital Auxiliary. She loved working with children and was the founding director of the kindergarten at Northside Methodist Church, Atlanta, in 1958. She was a leader and supporter of Atlanta Speech School, Rabun Gap Nacoochee School, and Girl Scouts. During the '70s and '80s she was Southeast Regional Sales Manager for America Cut Crystal. Teri was enthusiastically involved in health and fitness, and loved music and gardening.

She is predeceased by her first husband, William C. Horton, Jr., 41 years; her second husband, S. Russell Bridges 2 years; and her grandson William Hobart Millsaps, III age 27.

She is survived by her children: Gail Farmer Lannie, Gloria Harrison Joe, and Bill Horton Leah; six grandchildren: Kathy Renick Andy, of Columbus, OH, Ellie Harrison and Ben Harrison of Savannah, Lindsey Horton of Atlanta, Lauren King Denton of Denver, CO, and Brooks Horton of New Orleans, LA.; two great-grandchildren: Rachel Renick and Daniel Renick of Columbus, OH; and also by the children of her second husband, S. Russell Bridges.

Memorial services will be held in Savannah at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23; and in Atlanta at Northside United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, followed by private interment at Rose Hill cemetery in Winder, GA.

Remembrances: Hospice Savannah, Alzheimer's Society, and Northside United Methodist Church.
