Mary Michel Fraps Leech was born in Savannah, GA on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1936. She died very unexpectedly on July 3, 2013. She was the beloved wife of Richard Waymack Leech. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Richard Waymack Leech, Jr. Claudia of Fairview, NC, Dr. Mark Hatley Leech Linda of Chattanooga, TN, Michelle Sandra Leech David Bussing of Savannah, GA, Ann Marie Northcutt Troy of Fayetteville, NC, and Thomas Arthur Leech of Savannah, GA.
She is also survived by her brother, Arthur George Fraps Jr. Dottie of Savannah, GA, and sister, Ann Fraps Gaul Don of Crystal Lake, IL, as well as nine grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
While her family was still young, Mary attended the Operating Room Technician program at Memorial Medical Center, graduating as the "First Honor Graduate". Mary worked as an OR Tech at MMC for several years. While still working full time and raising 5 kids, she went back to school for her Associates Degree in nursing and graduated in 1980 with a BSN degree. She worked as a recovery room nurse at Memorial until she retired in the 1990's. She touched many lives and her family and friends alike will miss her dearly.
A Memorial Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The family requests that everyone dress casual for the visitation.
Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
