Celebrating the life of

Joseph F. O'Heaney

June 27, 1934 - August 24, 2013

Joseph F. O'Heaney

SAVANNAH - Joseph O'Heaney, 79, died August 24, 2013, after a two year battle with cancer at Hospice Savannah, surrounded by love.

Joe was a '52 graduate from Christian Brothers Academy in Albany, New York. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea, and graduated from Syracuse University.

Joe lived and worked for many years in Rochester, New York, where he retired as CEO of DeRidder, Inc. He was very active in the Rochester community and very proud of his Irish heritage. Joe had a great influence in co-founding Rochester's St. Patrick's Day Parade. He loved his time spent on Big Gull Lake with family and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Paul O'Heaney and Margaret Fahey O'Heaney, and brother Paul O'Heaney.

He is survived by his wife Anne; sons Shaun and Kevin; daughter Maureen; three grandchildren, Joseph, Ryan and Caitlin; nephews, nieces, cousins, and many dear friends.

At Joe's request, there will be no visitation or memorial service. He wishes to be remembered with good stories, laughter, and a bit of Irish.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers remembrances be made to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416 or GRRR Georgia Rescue, Rehabilitation and Relocation 14 Majestic Oak Circle, Savannah, GA 31406.
