I'm so sorry to hear of Joanie's passing. She will be missed by many but we know in our hearts that she is now finally in peace and re-joined with her true soul mate Dennis Leslie Lamb in eternity.

I knew Joanie in high school and was also her next-door neighbor. We were also both at UGA. Joanie wouldn’t drive between home and Athens. I didn't have a car, so, I use to drive for her. On one trip her car broke down near Millen, Ga. about dusk. Which was a bit scary, especially when a car full of locals stopped to see if we needed help. Driving was an older man and next to him his much younger date. 2 other younger men were riding in back. It was Friday night and they were cruising and drinking screwdrivers. They offered to take us to a phone and find a wrecker to get the car. Reluctantly, we got in their car. Murray, the driver, had an upholstery shop in town. When he drove behind an old building and said it was the back of his shop, Joanie and i both thought: 'we are going to die.' Turned out there was a phone inside, we called Joanie's father and everything worked out fine. How nice to remember those times today, but so sad to know Joanie has passed on.
