Robert Harris Laughlin

Mr. Robert Harris Laughlin, 88, of Morningside Assisted Living in Raleigh, NC, died September 20, 2013. Committal service will be held at 2:00 PM, November 1, 2013 at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Savannah, Ga. The family will receive friends before and after the Committal service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.

Mr. Laughlin was born in Savannah, the son of the late James Homer Laughlin and Gertrude Rebecca Sauls Laughlin. He served his country during WW II as a member of the Air Force. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech and was an information processing manager for Westinghouse. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Rachel Jane Park Laughlin. In his retirement, he volunteered as a computer software developer for the Town of Varnville.

He is survived by daughters Beth L. Sussman of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Roberta L. Thomason of Cary, NC, son John W. Laughlin of Charlotte, NC, brother Dana E. Laughlin of Savannah and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, James Homer Laughlin, Jr. of Raleigh, NC.
