Gino John Rabusin

Gino John Rabusin, 86, died Wednesday, 16 October at his home in Savannah surrounded by the love and respect of his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, under the care of Hospice Savannah, Inc.

He was born in the province of Istria, Montona, Italy, in 1927. Living most of his life in Brewster New York, he moved to Savannah in 2004.

After serving in the military police force of the Free Territory of Trieste after World War II, he immigrated to Lackawanna, NY in 1950 and was employed as a foundry worker with Ford Motor Company.

Moving promptly to Brewster, NY to be close to his betrothed whom he'd met on the ship to the U.S., he worked for over 30 years as an equipment operator for the highway department, Town of Southeast, NY. He remained active in his local parish of St. Lawrence O'Toole and was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Parish in Savannah.

Recently celebrated 60 years of marriage, he is survived by his wife, Pam, and children: Mario Rabusin, wife Lucille, Laura Dolan, husband Edward, Jeanne Nelson, husband Eric, Peter Rabusin, and Eric Rabusin, wife Linda, 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18th at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with the Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter's at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 19th, with interment following at the Catholic Cemetery of Savannah.

The family suggests any remembrances be made in his memory and name to Hospice Savannah, Inc., P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416 or St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, P.O. Box 30859, Savannah, GA 31410.

Although I did not personally know Mr. Rabusin, I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest sympathy. No doubt, the loss of such a dear loved one will be felt by many. But please take comfort in the fact that sickness and death will soon be things of the past. Isaiah 25:8 May the 'God of all comfort' bring comfort to your family during this difficult time.
