To the family of Mr. McGaughey, Although I did not personally know Mr. McGaughey, I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest sympathy. No doubt, the loss of such a dear loved one will be felt by many. Long ago the faithful man Job asked if an able bodied man died could he live again. The comforting answer is yes. Jehovah God yearns to bring back those who have died. Job 14:13-15 May this and other promises recorded in the Bible continue to comfort your family.

Dr. McGaughey was truely a wonderful man and I will treasure the talks we had about life. He was wise in so many ways. You never knew what direction your conversation would go and sometimes he would surprise you but he was a wonderful kind man who cared for others. And I can truely say during most of those conversations he would bring up his children. I pray for his children. They were his life. I will miss his smile, the way he acted like Eyore when he was on call, his hugs, the way he talked to patients and I could go on and on. We all have been blessed to call him our friend and as Shali put it, 'I will see you on the other side Dr. McGaughey.' Save me a seat.

The news of Sam's sudden untimely passing is truly shocking. He was a great friend all through high school at Stratford. He was a great teammate in football and baseball. But most of all, the things we did outside of school which left lasting memories. Dove hunting in Marshallville, duck and deer hunting in Lizella. We always had Sam's black lab Gyp with us. Fishing the Ocmulgee River, Sam and I had seven snakes drop from a tree into the boat. I think we invented the original 'river dance' in a 14 foot johnboat that day. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jan,Holley and Sam's wife and children. God Bless.

My heart is heavy with the sudden loss of Sam. He was such a remarkable guy who always made a difference. I had the privilege of working with him regularly in St Marys Ga for 7 yrs , me as a surgeon + him as a anesthesiologist. He was always pleasant, professional ,+ proficient at his job. He handled every emergency situation with style + grace . Everyone that knew him, liked him. He was the kind of guy we all wanted to be. He helped me through some tough times, + I will be forever grateful to have known him.

Sam's grandfather and my dad were brothers. Had not kept in touch like you should over the years, but had surgery December, 2012 and Sam was my anestheseologist. So good to see him and connect again. He was so darn cute! My deepest sympathies to Jan, Mary, his children who he adored and family. Hard to understand some things that happen. Know his grandparents and Dad are happy to have him with them, but our hearts are broken. Love, Sue
