This news saddens me to know end. Nancy was a regular for many years at the Driftaway Café in Sandfly,GA. I was her family's server for many years. She was a loving mother and a great person! We shared many laughs and sadly many tears in the last few years. I have not seen her in awhile...Thank you to Clay for calling me today 12-13-13 to let me know and say thanks for a little note I wrote her one day for encouragement. I wish she would have called. My heart goes to all of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed. Love Michelle Calver
- Michelle Calver, Savannah, GA
Nancy Hester was one of the first girls I met at Georgia Southern. We became Phi Mu sisters and good friends. During the past three or four years we grew even closer. Nancy was a true 'ever lasting friend'. No matter how long it might have been between seeing each other, a converation with Nancy was always as if we had just parted the day before. I was able to visit with her in Savannah in early March. She was excited about moving to her new home and she was looking forward to the next chapter in her life. Knowing the book is now closed makes me so very sad - especially for her sons, Clay and Wesley. We'll remember Nancy as that beautiful and my gosh, but she was so incredibly beautifuldark-haired girl with the flashing brown eyes. She was smart, witty and hardworking. Never has there lived a woman more devoted to her loved ones. Her family was the most important thing in the world to her. She will be in our hearts forever.
- Lynda Reeves Hester, Clayton - Lake Burton, GA
Our heartfelt condolences are extended to all of Nancy's family...especially to her two sons, Clay and Wesley, whom she adored and loved so very much. Hold tight to memories of happy times that you shared with your mother and know that God will sustain you and give you strength and courage to navigate the difficult days ahead. Please know that we hold you close in thought and prayer. With deepest sympathy, Cindy and John Howard
- Cindy Howard, Savannah, GA

Back in 4th grade at Charles Ellis Elementary in 1986, I was introduced to the 4-H program. My first agent was Ms Hester. She was such a great and positive lady and was always supportive of me in all the ideas that I had for whatever 4-H brought me and in whatever I did. I will always be indebted to what she gave to me through what she did. She had a love for it and I still use what she and the program taught me to this day. In fact, I have now given back some of my time by helping out a 4-H program at a school in the Atlanta area. She passed way too early, but I know that she is looking down on me and is proud of one of her 'products.' Thoughts and prayers go out to the family. To end....let me type the the 4-H pledge: I pledge my HEAD to clearer thinking My HEART to greater loyalty My HANDS to larger service and my HEALTH to better living for my club, my community, my country, and my world. Rest in peace Ms Hester!
- D. Louis Gruver, Jr, Atlanta, GA

Nancy Hester was not only our client, she was our true friend. JB and I spent evenings at our home together, cook outs at her beautiful homes, laughed together and we cried together. She could cook a steak and potatoe better than anyone! When she moved to her home in Causton Bluff it was a new beginning. She was a Georgia girl! Just like her baby dog, Georgia. I have never seen such a beautiful lady more heartbroken for these last years , Savannah has lost a treasure full of memories, to young to leave us. May God be with her sons, family, and the joy she brought to us!
