Savannah, GA - April "Desi" Koci, 53, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Memorial University Medical Center. She was a native of Amarillo, Texas and had lived in Crestwood, KY and Heidelberg, Germany prior to moving to Savannah in 2009. While living in Crestwood, Desi was a loving and gifted teacher's assistant at Camden Station Elementary School, volunteered with the prison ministries and was active with Emmaus in Louisville, KY. Her love of children and gift of caring brought her to the Ronald McDonald House in Savannah where she became an integral part of the volunteer program. Above all, she was a devoted, caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her husband, Daniel T. Koci of Savannah; son and daughter-in-law, John and Julie Koci of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Dylan and Emily Kate; mother, Elaine Parker of Amarillo, TX; sister, Miesha Swadley John of Little Rock, AR; brother, Trever Modawell of Augsburg, Germany and several nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 14, 2013 in the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.
