Elaine Jannusch Smith

SAVANNAH - Elaine Helen Jannusch Smith, 85, died at her home on December 10, 2013 surrounded by her children. She was born April 25, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois and lived in Illinois for most of her life before moving to The Landings in Savannah, Georgia.

She attended Amundsen High School and the University of Chicago. She was self-employed as a land developer before retiring to Savannah where she was a golf member at The Landings and involved in many bridge groups, charitable organizations, and Girls and Boys from Illinois. She was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Elaine loved the Chicago Cubs, Bulls, Bears and Blackhawks.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law Robert and Kathleen Smith, son Jeffrey Smith of Woodstock, Illinois, son and daughter-in-law Gary and Terry Smith of Naples, Maine, son and daughter-in-law Randall and Paula Smith of Traverse City, Michigan, 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Messiah Lutheran Church. There will be a reception in the Fellowship Hall following the service.

The family suggests remembrances be made in her memory to either the Messiah Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
