Celebrating the life of

Jason Strickland

September 27, 1976 - July 02, 2019

Jason Strickland

Jason Strickland,42, died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 2 in his home in Savannah, Georgia.  He was a beloved husband, father, and friend.  Jason was born September 27, 1976 in Columbus, Georgia to Robert Strickland.  Jason was raised by his father and maternal grandmother, Martha Cartwright.   He graduated from Columbus High School and attended one year at AASU where he was majoring in business.  Jason is survived by his wife Deborah, his son Justin, daughter Sophia, father Robert, stepmother Joyce, sister Jewlee, nephew Zaire, and his aunt Ann.

After moving to Savannah with his wife, Jason worked with First Family and after one year was moved and promoted to branch manager for parent company, Associates for their Statesboro and Brunswick offices.  After Associates being bought by Citibank, Jason was moved to Savannah to run their new office.  Jason started working for J.C. Lewis Ford in 2003 as their buy here pay here manager.  With the guidance of Mike Offer, he quickly moved from buy here pay here to finance manager to sales manager to service manager.  Jason left J.C. Lewis Ford in 2015 and moved to Dade City, Florida with his family, to work for Jarrett Ford.  After three years Jason again, with his family in tow, moved back to Savannah to work for J.C. Lewis Ford. The decision to move back "home" was easy. He wanted to come back to his work "family" but more for his daughter, Sophia.  It was important for her to be with her many friends and continue her weightlifting training at Abilities Unlimited.

Jason loved rocks and even had an online rock store called 321 Sophia's Rock Shop.  He took lapidary classes at William Holland and belonged to many rockhound groups across the country.  Our vacations were always rock adventures from the coast of Oregon or Mt. Ida Arkansas to Lagrange GA. It was always about rocks and family.  Even though I didn't understand what he was looking at or talking about, to him it was like finding the hope diamond.  He was in heaven just being there with his family and surrounded by rocks.  Every time he found a cool rock, he was so excited and he would show Sophia and her response was always...Ew.  His little girl was his life and they are cut from the same cloth.  That was his mini-me.

Jason will be remembered as a kind, loving, compassionate man; a loyal friend and great father!

Visitation will be at Fox and Weeks on Hodgson Memorial Drive on Thursday, July 11 from 5-7pm.

A Memorial Service will be held at Compassion Christian Church, Adult Ministry Building, 55 Al Henderson Blvd. on Saturday, July 13 at 10 AM.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Abilities Unlimited, 7232 Varnedoe Dr., Savannah, GA 31406.

GUEST BOOK

I worked with Jason for about two years at Jarrett Ford. I worked in the service department. Jason would always go out of his way to speak with me when I had business with the sales department. He would always thank me for “keeping it classy “ . Jason was a good man and a true professional. My condolences...

My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to Jason's loved ones. I am a member of RTH rock/lapidary forum where I was blessed to know Jason. His love for Sophia touched all of hearts. I gifted him some material and was thrilled by how Sophia received it. Made me wish I were there when she saw it. :) Jason will be missed by these special kids and all those who knew him including all the folks at RTH. May he rest in peace.

Heartfelt condolences from a member of Rock Tumbling Hobby. (RTH) I had the joy of sharing coprolite (petrified dino poo) with Sophia and got such a thrill to hear her reaction. Jason is a gem and Sophia too. RIP
