Celebrating the life of

Rosemary Schwarz Lynch

January 17, 1913 - January 21, 2014

Rosemary Schwarz Lynch

Rosemary Schwarz Lynch died on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah, Georgia.

Born in Savannah on January 17, 1913, Mrs. Lynch was the daughter of Judge John Edward Schwarz and Rose Florence McDermott Schwarz. She had just celebrated her 101st birthday last Friday with her family in attendance.

Mrs. Lynch attended Sacred Heart School and St. Vincent's Academy and graduated from Savannah High School and from the Marion Academy Business School. She worked as executive secretary at the Georgia State Employment Agency and later for over 20+ years as secretary and office manager at the Congregation Mickve Israel in Savannah. Mrs. Lynch married the late William Joseph Lynch in Savannah on May 10, 1939 and enjoyed nearly 54 years of marriage with him until his death at the age of 80 in 1993.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Lynch was preceded in death by her brothers, John E. Schwarz, Jr., Walter Schwarz, Richard Schwarz and Robert McDermott Schwarz, and by two sisters, Florence Ann Schwarz and Louise Schwarz Maguire. Mrs. Lynch is survived by her four children and their spouses: William J. Lynch, Jr. Bill and Marty of Daphne, AL; Shirley L. Kinlaw and Francis of Greensboro, NC; Barbara L. Wissmann and Bob of Ellicott City, MD; and Rosemary L. Lewis and Claiborne of Savannah. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Robert Lynch Jackie, Michael Lynch Robyn, Brian Kinlaw Lisa, Patrick Kinlaw Janel, Jeffrey Kinlaw Caroline, Alan Kinlaw Hannah, Robert Wissmann Erin, Matthew Lewis Shelli, and Sara Lewis Brian. Mrs. Lynch is also survived by her adoring great-grandchildren: Patrick, Daniel, Elizabeth, Holly, Ryan, Abby, Lindsay, Kate, Allie, Kyle, Madelyn, Audrey, Lucy, and Madeleine; and by several nieces and a nephew

A life-long communicant of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Savannah, GA, Mrs. Lynch served for many years as an officer in the Blessed Sacrament School PTA and in the Catholic Women's Club. She was a genteel Southern lady who has been a source of inspiration and admiration and a friend to all who knew her. She believed that the secret to her long life was to look for the good in everyone and in every day. Her beautiful smile will live on forever. She was an avid Bridge and Bingo player and will miss her twice-a-week games with her friends at River's Edge Retirement Community where she lived for the past eleven years.

Visitation will take place on Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Fox & Weeks Funeral Home Hodgson Chapel, with a rosary service at 7:00 PM.

The funeral Mass will be held on Saturday morning at 10 AM at the Blessed Sacrament Church followed by interment in the Bonaventure Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as her pallbearers.

The family suggests that any remembrances be made in Mrs. Lynch's memory to Blessed Sacrament Church, St. Vincent's Academy or Benedictine Military School.

Deepest sympathy from the McDonald family. Our mothers shared a sweet friendship at River's Edge and Myra missed Rosemary very much after leaving in 2011 due to health problems. Myra died in October 2013 at age 92. How fortunate that Rosemary's good health endured so long. We have many happy memories of their times together.
