Ray M. VanHook

SAVANNAH – Ray M. VanHook died January 21, 2014.
He was born in Los Angeles, California June 5, 1925. In January of 1944, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Sewell, and they were happily inseparable.
After receiving his BA degree from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, he earned a JD degree from John Marshall Law School in Chicago and a Master of Law degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. For 44 years he held various officer positions in the Law and Marketing Departments of the Southern Railway System and the Norfolk Southern Corp.
Preceded in death by his wife, he is survived by his son Kenneth; also two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He and his wife have a mausoleum in Bonaventure Cemetery and, at his request, the interment was private.

Ray was first met around 1965 in Montgomery, AL while he was representing Southern Railway before the Alabama Public Service Commission. We later worked at the same time in Washington. He was an able and respected officer and will be missed.
