Savannah- Ernest Richard "Dick" Jones, Jr., 68, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at his residence.
Dick was a native and life-long resident of Savannah. He was a graduate of Savannah High School, class of 1964, served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. In 2007, he retired from International Paper after 37 years of service. He was a beloved father and uncle and will be deeply missed. Preceding him in death are his parents, Ernest Richard Jones, Sr. and Ollie Mae Donaldson Jones, and his only sister, Johanna Thigpen.
Surviving are his sons, James Ernest Jones of Springfield, Richard F. Jones of Savannah; his former wife, Carolyn M. Jones of Springfield, and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2014 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
