BETTIE JEAN SIMPSON MOCK
Jan. 23, 1928 – Mar. 9, 2014
Savannah- Bettie Mock has passed away following a lengthy illness. She is survived by her daughter Margaret Elizabeth Brady of Santa Clara, CA Bruce, son Phillip H. Mock, granddaughter April E. Tarbuskovich John of Sunnyvale, CA, grandsons Phillip Anthony Mock Jessie and Andrew Carl Mock Amy, 8 great grandchildren, and extended family in Tennessee and elsewhere. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Francis Mock, son, Stanley Simpson Mock, her parents, and her 4 siblings.
Bettie was born and raised in Waverly, TN. She graduated from Central High School, where she was salutatorian and captain of her basketball team. She worked for about 15 years at Georgia Nursery and Landscape Company where she refined her skill and love of gardening.
Bettie was a longtime, active member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, serving as Treasurer and on several committees. Her faith sustained her through many trying times over the years. She always tried to help others, including as a Cub Scout den mother, president of the Bartlett Jr. High PTA, and a frequent volunteer at school and charity functions.
Most of all, she was a devoted mother, strict but fun, who set high standards for her children. She and Carl also raised their two grandsons.
The family wishes to thank the kind folks at Spanish Oaks Hospice, especially Candy, Diane and Irene for their excellent care.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at St. Luke Methodist Church.

With deepest sympathy to the family for the loss of your dear loved one. During this most difficult time, may your hearts be comforted by Jehovah God's promise that 'He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry not pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.'Rev. 21:4
- Annie Thomas, Snellville, GA
My thoughts are with you during your moments of grief. You have my condolences. Isaiah 33:24 speaks of a time when 'no resident will say I am sick.' May this thought comfort us all as we await that glorious time.
