Edward Hill Morgan

SAVANNAH - Edward Hill Morgan, 95, died April 2, 2014 in Savannah.

Mr. Morgan was born in Guyton, Georgia on January 20th, 1919. He was a member of the first graduating class of Armstrong College and went on to the Georgia Institute of Technology. Mr. Morgan served in World War II with the 8th and 9th Army Air Corp in the European Theater. In business, he was President of Morgan's, Inc. and Morgan Engine Company. He served on the board of directors of the W.W. Williams Company in Columbus, Ohio.

Mr. Morgan was a member of Christ Church Anglican and a past member and vestryman of Christ Episcopal Church where he also served on the building maintenance committee and oversaw the purchase and installation of the current organ.

Mr. Morgan was a board member of St. Joseph's Hospital, the American Cancer Society Chatham County and the Ships of the Sea Museum. He served as co-chairman of the Skidaway Bridge Commission and was chairman of the Industrial and Domestic Water Commission.

Mr. Morgan was a member of the Savannah Golf Club, the Cotillion Club, the Savannah Benevolent Society, the Sons of the American Revolution, the Sons of the Colonial Wars, and a member and past president of the Oglethorpe Club.

He was interested in many other civic, social and religious activities in both Chatham and Effingham counties.

Mr. Morgan was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Valeria McIver. He is survived by his three daughters: Valeria Morgan Crouch, Katherine Morgan Waddell and Emily Morgan Kehoe.; two sons-in-law: Richard Spencer Waddell, Jr. and William John Kehoe III, six grandchildren: Richard Spencer Waddell III and his wife Meredith Muirhead; Katherine Waddell Wynne and her husband John Oliver Wynne; George McAlpin Crouch, Jr. and his wife Morgan Willard, Valeria Chisolm Crouch, Emily Kehoe Cameron and her husband Timothy Shand Cameron, and Elizabeth Tatum Kehoe; and six great grandchildren: Richard Spencer Waddell IV, Blakeley Morgan Waddell, Harry Woodruff Waddell, Julia Morgan Wynne, John Oliver Wynne III and William Kehoe Cameron.

The family is grateful for all of Mr. Morgan's devoted caretakers: Dana Williams, Jennifer Rivers, Fredericka Johnson, Maggie Scott, Sontray Washington and Kenesha Wilson.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Bonaventure Cemetery.
