Savannah- William Meyers Richardson Bill, 73, entered into the Presence of His Savior Thursday, April 3, 2014.
He was born in Savannah, GA on August 15, 1940 to Clinton B. Richardson Red and Ruby Meyers Richardson. He was a lifelong resident of Savannah.
Bill graduated from Commercial High School and attended what was then Armstrong College. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and retired from the US Postal Service where he served as Supervisor of the Wilmington Island Branch. There was nothing Bill loved more than spending time with his family. He delighted in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to have his family around the kitchen table, laughing, telling jokes and "pigeonholing that topic till another day". He loved trains and traveling. As a history buff, Bill and Andrea visited many Civil War battlefields. Bill was full of mischief and loved practical jokes. He loved to say "I only pick on you because I like you".
Bill was an avid golfer and loved to be on the golf course in cool weather. He and Andrea loved their yearly golf trips with Danny and Malinda, Roy and Joyce, and Rob and Hilda. Bill and Andrea recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary where they were surrounded by their family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving is his wife, Andrea McElveen Richardson; his son, William Meyers Richardson, II Kathleen Vassar Richardson; daughters, Kathleen Richardson Shores Kevin Matthew Shores and Rebecca Richardson Salamankas John Salamankas; grandchildren, Kathleen Richardson McAlhaney Cory, William Meyers Richardson, III fiancé, Marlynn Mixson, Anna Colleen Richardson, Aaron Matthew Shores Lucy, Christina Marie Shores and Derek Matthew Shores, Patrick Joseph Salamankas, II and Jack William Salamankas; great-grandchildren, Maddie Thomas, Logan Thomas, Karmin Shores, and Aaron Shores, II; sister, Maryann Gillespie and brother, Clinton Bradford Richardson Danny and wife Malinda; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and his beloved poodle Louis.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors with a funeral service immediately following. Officiating will be Moses Toole of Centerpoint Community Church. Burial will be private.
