Barbara Hughes Weathers McLaughlin

Barbara Hughes Weathers McLaughlin

Savannah, Georgia - Barbara Hughes Weathers McLaughlin went home to the Lord Saturday April 5th.

She was born February 19, 1928 to Marion and Ina Hughes in Savannah, Georgia and was with us for an all too short 86 years.

A native Savannahian, she lived in California, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and even for a time in Lagos Nigeria before coming home to live first at Tybee Island and later at Isle of Hope. She had a contagious zest for life - enjoying a love of boating, fishing, adventurous cooking. She was a green thumb gardener and expert seamstress. She most especially loved having the entire family together as often as she could. She was active in the First Presbyterian Church and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sister Dorothy Simmons of Savannah, daughters Nancy Ray Crumpton of Savannah, Susan Jim Minor of Ravenna Ohio, Susan McLaughlin of Meadville, Pennsylvania, sons Michael Kathleen Weathers, John Sunny Weathers, Matthew McLaughlin , all of Savannah, Bill McLaughlin of Gautier, Mississippi, six grandchildren, Douglas Weathers of Savannah, Amanda Weathers Tony Kipe of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Joseph McLaughlin Kim of Seattle, Washington, Jennifer Quackenbush and Ray Crumpton , Jr of Savannah, Kyle McLaughlin of Gautier, Mississippi, and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Julius Bell Mac McLaughlin, her mother and father Marion and Ina Hughes of Savannah, son Patrick McLaughlin, grandson Brett McLaughlin, her brothers Marion and Ned Hughes and her sisters Kathleen and Annabelle Harrell.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday April, 12th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Washington Avenue, Savannah, Georgia 31405.
