Theresa Litchfield Gnann
SAVANNAH - Theresa Litchfield Gnann, wife of Jim Gnann, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at her home on the Isle of Hope after a long illness. Born in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, she resided in Savannah, Georgia most of her life and was the daughter of Frances Reynolds Gnann, educator and first principal of Hesse Elementary School. Theresa graduated from O'Keefe High School which she attended while employed as a professional ice skater in Atlanta, Georgia during her senior year. She also skated with the Ice Capades. She attended Armstrong State College and was employed as a department manager at Sears and later Belk's. She was a co-owner of Little John's of Savannah. She enjoyed traveling, attending the symphony and volunteering with various arts organizations, being with her many friends and watching her children and grandchildren grow up.
She was a member of the First Families of South Carolina, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Savannah Symphony Women's Guild for whom she oversaw many projects and the Savannah Friends of Music, as well as the Savannah Golf Club. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband¸ James Hamrick Gnann, Sr., her children, James Hamrick Rick Gnann, Jr. Rebecca, Lt. Col. Alan Christopher Gnann, USAF ret'd Ann, Frances Theresa Huncke Bobby and five grandsons: Ryan Elliott Gnann, James Hamrick Gnann III, Andrew David Gnann II, Matthew Hunter Gnann and Thomas Christopher Huncke, and special cousin Albert O. Gnann.
The family wishes to acknowledge with thanks the faithful care provided to her by caregivers Ida, Arthur Mae, Kotesia, Fran, Alethia and Deborah, as well as Hospice Savannah.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church general fund.
The family will receive visitors at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
The funeral will be held at the church at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception in Hoffner Hall.
Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. at Jerusalem Lutheran Church Cemetery at Ebenezer.
