George W. Lindsay, Jr.

SAVANNAH – George W. Lindsay, Jr., 95, died Sunday May 11, 2014 at Habersham House under the care of Hospice Savannah. He was born March 3, 1919 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late George Wilson Lindsay and his wife Rebecca Steele Lindsay. He had lived in Savannah for the past 82 years.
He was a member of Independent Presbyterian Church where he had served on numerous boards and committees.
He enlisted service in the US Navy in 1940 and was honorably discharged in January 1947.
He was preceded in death by his brothers David, John and Robert.
He is survived by a brother, Donald J. Lindsay and his wife Vivian of Atlanta, GA; a son, George W. Lindsay, III and his wife Laura of North Myrtle Beach, SC; a granddaughter, Jennifer Lindsay Robertson and her husband Lt. Col. Gerald Robertson of Arlington, VA; a grandson, George W. Lindsay, IV and his wife Mary of Charleston, SC; 3 great grandchildren, Laura Garner Robertson, Wilson Kyle Robertson, and George Winfield Lindsay; and several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park, 1600 Wheaton St., Savannah, GA, 31404.
