Savannah- Arthur C. "Neally" Thompson, Jr. died on May 13 at Hospice in Savannah, GA. Neally was born March 12, 1932 in Hampton, VA to Virginia Cowherd Thompson and Arthur Cornelius Thompson. He was a graduate of the College of William and Mary and a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He served as a First Lieutenant in the US Army Artillery. He began his career with Lehigh Portland Cement Co., then joined Atlantic Cement Co. and rose to the position of Vice President, General Sales Manager. When Atlantic was purchased by Blue Circle Cement, he became Vice President Sales of the Lime Division. The Thompson's retired to The Landings on Skidaway Island in 2000. He was a member of The Landings Club, and Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church where he was active in The Men's Bible Study Class and served as an Elder. Neally is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret "Peggy" Perryman Thompson and their two sons; Chris and Ginger Thompson of Rincon, GA and John and Julie Thompson of Edmond, OK and his grandchildren Austin and Anna Thompson of Rincon, GA, and his brother in-law and sister in-law, John and Judy Perryman of Troy, MI and nephew, John M. Perryman III and niece Sara V. Perryman.
A service will be held on May 16 at 10:00a.m. at Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church, and a graveside service will be held on May 17 at 2:00p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan, GA. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church, 50 Diamond Causeway, Savannah, GA 31411.
