Charles Edward Branan

Charles Edward Branan, 80, died Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Hospice Savannah. He was born June 22, 1934 to the late Charles Ernest and Mary McKinley Branan. Charles was a 1958 graduate of the University of Georgia. He retired after 35 ½ years of service from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 22 of which were with the Soil Conservation Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Athens, GA. He was awarded the lifetime member in the Parent Teacher Association by Mitchell County P.T.A. and was a former member of the Lions Club and the Jaycees. He was a former member of Wilmington Islands United Methodist Church and was a veteran serving in the United States Air Force Reserves.
He is survived by his wife Miriam R. Branan, his children, Robert Branan (Deana), Charlotte Sabisch (DeWayne), and Michael Branan (Renee). Also surviving are his brother, Henry Branan (Annelia), sister, Betty Jones, seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
The Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 11, 2014 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with The Rev. Dr. Earl Best officiating.
