Richard Martin "Rick" Jorgensen
September 24, 1950 - July 17, 2014
Richard M. Jorgensen, 63, passed away on Thursday, July 17th, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on Staten Island, NY and spent his formative years in Lincroft, NJ. For the last 21 years, Rick has worked in the Savannah area, where he lived with his wife and daughter.
Rick earned his Masters in Social Work from Florida State University and worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in numerous settings for forty years. He worked with various populations including individuals with head trauma, PTSD, and other mental and physical disabilities. Rick founded an outpatient program in New Jersey for schizophrenics and the homeless. He dedicated his life to the service of others and to the Lord.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Cathie, and their daughter, Kim, along with his three brothers: Dean, David, Drew, and their families.
There will be a visitation on Monday, July 21st from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel on Whitemarsh Island. Funeral service will be held at the same location on Tuesday, July 22nd at 2:00 p.m.
Rick's final resting place will be in New Jersey.
