A devoted and loving mother who always put her family first
SAVANNAH - Wilmatine Blackburn Hodges, 88, passed away Tuesday, August 5. 2014, at her home on Isle of Hope.
Born in Statesboro, Bulloch County, Georgia on November 21, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Furman G. and Lillie Blackburn.
Mrs. Hodges was a member of Isle of Hope Baptist Church for fifty-eight years. She was a devoted and loving mother and was employed at Levy’s and Belk department stores for many years.
Surviving are a sister, Evelyn Livingston of Charleston, SC; her children, William Hugh Hodges, Jr. (Diane) of Springfield, GA, Robert Allen Hodges of Biloxi, MS, Gwen Monroe of Savannah, Richard Stanley Hodges of Savannah, and Jill Hauser of Emerald Isle, NC; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Hugh Hodges, Sr.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 8, 2014, at Isle of Hope Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the kind and compassionate care given to Mrs. Hodges by her care givers, Rose Young and Melissa Young as well as Dr. Joe Christian and Hospice Savannah.
My condolences to the Hodges family I am so sorry for your loss. May Jehovah be with your family in your time of grief we all know how you feel because we all have loss someone we love. But you can have hope because God has said there is going to be a resurrection for all mankind . At John 5:28,29 it talkes about a resurrection hope . Again I am sorry for your loss.
