Celebrating the life of
Linda Cubbedge Langston
February 24, 1950 - August 18, 2014
Linda Cubbedge Langston, 64, passed away August 18, 2014, at Hospice Savannah. She was born February 24, 1950, in Savannah, to the late Wilbur and Nira Cubbedge of Rocky Ford. She grew up on Wilmington Island, and after graduating from Savannah High School, Linda received a BA (Political Science) from Armstrong State College, and a MA (Political Science) and Ed.D (Adult Education) from The University of Georgia. She was an educator during her life working at Calvary Day School/Savannah (1973-74); Savannah State College (1974-75); and Gainesville Junior College/Gainesville College (1976-2001) [now The University of North Georgia-Gainesville]. After Linda’s retirement, Gainesville College conferred upon her the title of Professor Emerita of Education and Political Science. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church (Gainesville) and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church (Savannah).
Linda was an avid reader, animal lover, advocate for progressive ideas and a diehard supporter of The University of Georgia. During the last fourteen years of her life, with the help of a host of health care professionals in Gainesville and Savannah, she achieved more “comebacks” than Bill Clinton in successfully battling Multiple Sclerosis. She lived every day of her life with passion and purpose.
Surviving are her devoted husband and soul mate of forty years Steve; daughters Jessica Cubbedge Langston (Chandler) McClellan and Stephanie Cecile Langston; grandson John Langston McClellan; sisters Donna Cubbedge Hardie and Debra Cubbedge (George) Edenfield; sister-in-law Jan Falligant Langston; nieces Kellie (Arthur) Steedman, Katie (Gary) Conleay, Leia Edenfield and nephew Joshua Edenfield; grand-niece Parker Steedman and grand-nephews Will Steedman and Camp Conleay.
A memorial service to celebrate Linda’s life will be held Saturday, August 30, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Savannah, GA. To remember Linda, the family encourages supporting charities you value or performing a charitable act. Linda’s charity of choice was The Humane Society of Greater Savannah.

Dear Steve and Family: I was shocked and saddened to read of Lind's death in our local paper. I had not heard anything on her health since you left Gainesville College. I did not know that her health had worsened. She was such a lovely person! She was always so pleasant. I know that she loved her family so much. I enjoyed knowing both of you at the college. You always helped me in so many ways. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Steve We were so sorry to hear that Linda is no longer with us. I know she has had a rough time. However, she had a great husband and daughters to care for her. LaVerne and I are thinking of you and your family. LaVerne and Steve

Donna, Was just thinking of the beautiful Cubbage sisters at Savannah High-- Linda seemed quieter and always happy. Not surprised she spent her life walking the talk. Think gently of her.
