SAVANNAH - Ella Deniza (Dene) Bartlett Adams, 92, of Savannah, formerly of Mauldin, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2014.
Dene was born and raised in Westfield, New Jersey, where she met and married Robert Adams. She and Bob were married for 43 years until his death in 1986.
Dene worked as a librarian in Pickens, South Carolina. She was an active member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Simpsonville, South Carolina and joined St. Francis of the Islands when she moved to Savannah. Dene served on the South Carolina State Board of the Girl Scouts of America as president and historian. She also volunteered at both United Ministries and Meals-on-Wheels in Greenville, South Carolina.

Surviving are her three daughters, Gail Youngblood and her husband David of Summerville, SC, Karen Murrin and her husband Al of Savannah, GA, and Peggy Nelson and her husband Jimmie of Greer, SC; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Dene touched many people with her goodness and her giving spirit. She will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 205 College Street, Simpsonville, SC 29681.

Becky and I wish to express our condolences to the friends and family to Dean. I worked with her for years - through the Old 96 Girl Scout Council. She and were members of the Property Development Committee. Her tireless dedication to looking after the Councils properties were greatly appreciated. I know that she will be missed by us all.
