Charmil was both friend and mentor to my late sister, Barbara Jones. They met in the early 1980s when Barbara moved home to Savannah to work in the insurance industry. She encouraged Barbara to continue her insurance education and was there when Barbara was named Savannah's Insurance Woman of the Year. I can't recall the year but it was a big deal, and Charmil was so proud of Barbara's honor. Charmil frequented my parents' home as a favored guest when they lived on East 56th Street. We enjoyed fun times and lively conversations around the kitchen table. Sadly, Barbara lost touch with her insurance coworkers about ten years ago when the early signs of dementia set in, becoming unable to work in a business office. Charmil was a fine, fine person.

I have taught over 61,000 students in my Insurance School. Charmil Vetter was one of the very first to give me a chance to build that company. I'll always love her for that and for being one of the classiest Ladies one could ever meet. I'll miss you, sweetheart. Brooksey

I was sadden by the news of Charmil's passing. After hearing this news, I began to think back to the conversations my daddy, Aubrey Luther Hayes, Jr and I would have. Every week he would call me with family updates and these updates always include the GREAT conversations he and Charmil had. So, I believe Heaven is having a party and daddy's cousin is home!

My condolences on the passing of your loved one. The sting of death is so brutal and hard to bear, but know that the Almighty knows your sorrow and he has been very reassuring when he says that he will wipe the tears from all faces and death will be no more. Neither mourning, nor outcry, nor pain. Revelation 21:3,4
