Norma Larko

Norma Larko, 94, passed away peacefully at Hospice House in Savannah, GA on Friday, October 10, 2014. Originally from St. Joseph, MI, Norma was born on January 9, 1920 to Albert and Minnie Marutz. On May 2, 1947 she married John Larko and they shared 51 years of marriage when John passed away on May 2, 1998.

Norma will be remembered for her eternal optimism, unique sense of humor and relentless love for her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children James (Donna) Larko of Grand Rapids, MI, Stephen Larko of Tallahassee, FL, Patti (Jan) Nielsen of Savannah, GA and Jean Root of Wyoming, MI; three grandchildren Jennifer (Patrick) McNamara, Angela (Scott) Breier, Melissa (Justin) Myers;  and great grandchildren Bo and Liv McNamara and Cohen Myers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters. She was comforted by her faith knowing she would be reunited with them and the loved ones she was leaving behind.

Visitation will be on Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 6 – 8 p.m. and funeral service on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. Both will be held at Starks and Menchinger Chapel in St. Joseph, MI. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph.

Her family wishes to thank Hospice House for their care, assistance and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Savannah, Inc., P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.

So very sorry for your loss.. She was a wonderful loving mother n Grammy. I remember her wonderful crocheted dish towels. I know she continued making long after her hands wanted to stop. I loved the way she was so smart at crossword puzzles and jeopardy! It was so cute when Grampy would be in the bedroom watching Jerpody on a different channel (same show but a few seconds ahead) then walk into the living room and answer the question before she could hear the answer! I am happy to know they are finally reunited... Together again. With love, Lorri
