Carolyn White “Gakee” Bowen, 84, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Meridian, Mississippi, she lived in Savannah most of her life with her beloved late husband, Clifford J. Bowen. Mrs. Bowen was a medical transcriptionist and was retired from Memorial University Medical Center. She was a member of the The Sanctuary Church. Gakee cherished, loved and took care of all God’s creatures.  She was preceded in death by her recently departed son, Daniel C. Bowen.

Surviving are her daughter, Cynthia B. Hodges and husband, John J. Hodges; son, Michael C. Bowen; sister, Emily W. Sanders all of Savannah; grandson, Joseph J. Hodges of Savannah; two granddaughters, Marie Bowen-Strouse and Christina Bowen Wetherall; and a great grandson of Savannah, Kasen Hodges, four other great grandchildren and her beloved dog, Jax.

A private graveside service was held in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Savannah, 7215 Sallie Mood Dr., Savannah, GA 31406.
