BM2 Ricky Allen Reese, Jr.

United States Coast Guard

BM2 Ricky Allen Reese, Jr.

Ricky Reese, Jr., age 25, of Guyton was called home to the Lord on August 1, 2019.  Ricky graduated from boot camp on September 11, 2015 and was currently a Boatswain’s Mate 2nd. Class of the United States Coast Guard stationed in Kodiak, Alaska where he served on the cutter Spar.  Prior to Kodiak, Ricky was first stationed in Jacksonville, Florida serving on the cutter Maria Bray and his second assignment was in Cleveland, Ohio serving on the cutter Neah Bay. Ricky always had a positive attitude.  He was kind, loving and always happy.  He was the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back.  He loved his family, friends and Coasties unconditionally.  He enjoyed watching football, baseball, soccer & Nascar.  Soccer being his first love, he was a natural on the field.  You could often find him at the race track working on his uncle's go kart cheering him on.  Since entering the Coast Guard, Ricky started hiking and rock climbing.  He was full of life and just getting started.  The world lost a beautiful soul and we will not be the same without him.  He was preceded in death by his grandfather Walker Newsome, Jr. and grandmother Dorothy Reese.

Ricky is survived by his mother Tammy (Kenneth) Robinson, father Ricky Reese, sisters Ashley Williams Zempel, Audrey Inman, Morgan Robinson, Tiffany Reese, Ashley Reese and brother Josh Reese, grandmother Mary Kirby, grandfather Jim Paul Reese, grandparents Kenneth Earl and Linda Robinson, uncle Walker (Dana) Newsome, uncle Kenneth Earl (Denise) Robinson, Jr., aunt Becky (Mark) Keen, aunt Peggy (Charles) Tucker, aunt Kimberly (Bruce) Knighton, cousins Greg (Stephanie) White, Donny (Becca) Keen, Dale (Casey) Bieber, Jessica (Chris) Cartwright, Sarah Wilkinson several second cousins and nieces and nephews.

My heartfelt condolences to you and your family Tammy. I met your son years ago and I thought he was a new team member with us at Home Depot?. He didn't let on that he wasn't when we broke out in groups. I asked him to perform the exercise and he politely told me he doesn't work here. He was a very funny, cool guy who will missed dearly.

I knew Ricky for about 4 years and he was a great guy. We sailed together on the Eagle across the pond to Europe, we checked out many sweet spots in Norway and Germany. I will miss him terribly, we were suppose to hang out this past week in Yorktown. I know you are working Aton up there at heavens gate. Love ya homie.

I am so very sorry for your loss. What an unexpected tragedy for all of us who knew him. I was his former teacher at Manhattan High School and enjoyed Facebook conversations with him keeping up with his accomplishments with the Coast Guard. When Ken and Ricky were making the cross country trip, he contacted me and we shared some barbeque at a Manhattan restaurant with two of his other teachers. He told us of his great adventures on the Eagle and in Europe. It was great to see him in person. He was the perfect high school student to have in class: respectful, engaged, and always tried his best. He was always happy....You raised a good son. My sincerest sympathy and I hope you can find peace and comfort from the wonderful memories of Ricky. Tish Simpson

We were so sad to hear the news about Ricky. Although we had never met him, we heard about him from both Earl and Elizabeth (Robinson). They were so very fond of him as their nephew and so proud of him as the man he was. We have made a donation in Ricky’s memory to the Coast Guard Foundation to pass along his legacy of service to others. We pray for your continued comfort.

I met Ricky a few years back through my cousin in Jacksonville and immediately upon meeting for the first time he was one of the nicest people I had the pleasure of meeting. His personality and attitude can change anyone's mood to one of joy and happiness. Hearing the news of what happened broke my heart and my thoughts go to his family. But I thank Ricky for the impact he left me while I knew him, he made me feel welcomed whenever I was around and he was always a joy to be around. Rest easy buddy, thanks for the memories.
