Ruby Dell Anderson Miller

Ruby Dell Anderson Miller, died on March 26, 2015 at the age of 95. She was born in Statesboro, GA on July 4, 1919 and was raised on the family farm near Nevils, GA. She was the daughter of William Gordon Anderson and Inez Anderson and a descendent of many of the families who originally settled in Bulloch County in the late 1700's. She graduated from Nevils High School and was the last surviving member of the class of 1938.
She married Elisha C. Miller, Jr. in 1940. At his death in 2003 they had been married 63 years. In 1945 they moved to Savannah. She worked for Levy’s Department Store in the Men’s Department for over 30 years and retired in 1992. She was a lifelong Baptist. As a child she attended DeLoach’s Primitive Baptist Church. After moving to Savannah she was a member of Bull Street Baptist Church for 12 years. In 1953 she transferred to Ardsley Park Baptist Church where she was a member for over 63 years. She was a member of the Grace Sunday School Class, the Dot Lott Missions Group and the Golden Christian Senior Group. At her death she was the church’s oldest member.
She loved attending her high school class reunions, family reunions, church dinners and functions, and celebrations involving her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Randall C. and Shirley Miller, of Savannah, Andrew Miller and Nell Miller, of Fairfax, VA; four grandchildren, Randall C. Miller, Jr., Holly Miller Simmons, Ashley Miller, and Vincent Miller, 2 great-grandchildren, James Edward Simmons, IV, and Adair Rose Simmons, a sister, Muriel Strickland, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Sabrina Evans for the kind and compassionate care she provided our mother during her last years.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Ardsley Park Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in the DeLoach’s Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bulloch County.
