Dr. Franklyn Philip Bousquet, Jr.

SAVANNAH - Dr. Franklyn Philip Bousquet, Jr. died Friday morning, April 17, in Savannah, GA.  Dr. Bousquet resided in Savannah for more than forty years where he was an eye surgeon and partner in Ophthalmology Associates, P.C.  He was pre-deceased by his wife of sixty-one years, Marguerite Anthony Black Bousquet, in 2008.

Dr. Bousquet was born on May 7, 1923 in Worcester, MA, the first child of Adelle Pratt Bousquet and Dr. Franklyn Philip Bousquet, Sr.  He attended Worcester Academy, Dartmouth College and Tufts Medical School in Boston, MA.  He performed his residency at The New York Hospital at Cornell Medical School in New York City.  Dr. Bousquet joined the United States Navy as an officer the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor, signing his commission on the campus of Dartmouth College while still a student.  He remained in the Navy, serving in the Korean War as a medical officer on both a United States Naval Medical Vessel, and in a MASH ground medical unit.  After the Korean War he remained in service in the Naval Reserve until his resignation in the late 1950s.

He had numerous leadership roles at the local hospitals. He served as Chairman of the Board for Savannah Country Day School.  He was a member of the Alliance Francaise, and many other civic and social organizations during his years in Savannah.

He leaves behind four children:  Dr. Franklyn Philip Bousquet, III (Katherine) of Savannah, James Halsey Bousquet (Cecilia) of Bluffton, SC, Michael Pratt Bousquet (Joanne) of Savannah, and Marguerite A. Bousquet Williamson of Hilton Head Island, SC.  He also leaves five grandchildren:  Paul Christopher Bousquet (Rebekah), Daniel Franklyn Bousquet, Franklyn Otakar Bakala, Marguerite Anthony Glendinning Williamson, and Halsey Frances Bousquet Williamson. Dr. Bousquet is also survived by his three younger sisters:  Virginia Bousquet Perry of Weston, MA, Carol Bousquet Logan of Greenfield, MA, and Elizabeth Bousquet Johnson of Maine.

He will be remembered as a dedicated physician, husband and father.  His Memorial will be held at Fox and Weeks, Hodgson Chapel, in Savannah, GA on Monday, April 20th at six p.m.
