Rebecca S. McConaghy

HINESVILLE, GA - Rebecca S. McConaghy, 69, died Thursday, April 16, 2015, in Savannah. A native of Tuscaloosa, AL, she was a graduate of Tuscaloosa High School and the University of Alabama. Mrs. McConaghy retired from South Central Bell in 1983 after 21 years of service. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Order of the Eastern Star. After moving to Hinesville in 1995, her lifelong passion for dogs and other animals led her to become President of the Liberty County Humane Society.
Surviving are her husband, Chester McConaghy of Hinesville; three sons, Kenneth McConaghy of Birmingham, AL, Jimmy McConaghy and David McConaghy, both of Savannah; and grandchildren, Kayla McConaghy, Hayden McConaghy, Carlee McConaghy, and King Long. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene G. and Elizabeth Jett Springfield, a son, Phillip McConaghy, and her brother, Eugene G. Springfield, Jr.
The family will receive friends at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm.
The interment will follow in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
