Celebrating the life of
Helen Conaway "Becky" Tedder
November 06, 1947 - April 23, 2015
SAVANNAH - Helen Conaway Tedder, known and loved as Becky, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015 after a long illness. Becky was a lifelong resident of Savannah. She graduated from Savannah High School in 1965 and studied at Armstrong State College. Becky was a cherished member of the Savannah Country Day School staff for 27 years, and of the Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, where she led the Bible Study Fellowship for over a decade.
Becky’s life was best exemplified by the warmth and love she shared with family, friends and the hundreds of students she watched grow up on the campus of Savannah Country Day. She was a wife, a mom, a sister, a grandmother, an amazing friend, and a Hornet. Becky was a contented spirit; she did not envy or judge or want, though she could not resist a cute pair of shoes. She listened. She was loyal, easy to be with, and quick to laugh. She touched so many lives through her big hugs, great smile, and just by being present.
But her quiet demeanor belied a courage and resilience that showed through life’s inevitable hardships. Becky never quit. She was never in a hurry, but she always kept going. Her feisty spirit could take you by surprise and make you laugh. She loved sweets, parties and music. Becky’s greatest loves were her children and grandchildren. She was proud of and generous with them. Her loving spirit will guide and stay with them forever.
Becky lived simply, but she loved abundantly. She was a beautiful soul who will be missed terribly. As the son of a close family friend said, “she will always be one of my favorite people. Ever.”
Becky is survived by her lifelong sweetheart and husband of 47 years, Bob, children Brady (Tiffany), Chris (Melissa), Katie Tedder Borges, and nephew who was like a son to her, Chris Caldwell (Lori); grandchildren Jonahthan, Megan and Brandon Borges; brother Bill Conaway (Diane), several nieces and nephews, and the many children of friends, to whom she will always be “Aunt Becky.” She was preceded in death by her father Bill Conaway, her mother, Helen Jordan, and her sister Sally Caldwell.
Visitation will be from 1-2 pm on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Fox and Weeks, 7200 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA, followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 2pm. Remembrances can be made to Savannah Country Day School, 924 Stillwood Drive, Savannah 31419, or Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, 412 Parkersburg Road, Savannah, GA 31406.

Having volunteered as a parent at SCDS through the years, I had the privilege of working closely with Becky. She loved the school and the students so very deeply, She saw so many students pass through the Lower School but was able to remember names and always wanted to know how they were doing post graduation. I will miss her sweet smile for sure! I was so blessed to call her a friend. My prayers to the family. God bless and keep you during this time.

Becky was an amazing encourager and supporter of the parents and families at SCDS all the years my children and grandson were there. I only knew her well at school but I can genuinely say that she was as much like Christ in her work as anyone I've ever known. She would listen to you, cry with you and never judge. Yet, in her calm and deliberate way, she would offer loving and wise advice whenever asked. I've missed her there since she retired, but our family will always remember her fondly and with deep respect. Our wish for her dear family is to grieve well and know how many of us are praying for you in your loss.

During this most difficult time, may your hearts be comforted by Jehovah God's promise to swallow up death forever and wipe away the tears from all faces(Isaiah 25:8).
