Laurie Wynn Yeomans

Laurie Wynn Yeomans, 81, of Savannah, GA and formerly a longtime resident Patterson, GA and Jesup, GA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Laurie was born in Patterson, GA to the late Joseph T. Martin and Martha T. Martin. She worked for many years as a teacher in the Wayne and Pierce County School Systems.
In addition to her parents Laurie was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Vernon Wynn of Screven, GA and her second husband, Kennic Yeomans of Jesup, GA. She is also preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Lee Jones and Maude Sue Dubois, and a brother, James C. Martin.
Laurie is survived by two daughters, Jayne W. Russell (Neil) of Savannah, GA and Lindsa Ann Wynn of Columbus, GA. Two grandchildren, Gil Russell (Jaime) of Dallas, GA, and Kathleen Russell of Savannah, GA, a sister, Tiny Barnard (J.P.) of Patterson, GA, three step-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Patterson Cemetery, (Patterson, GA behind Bethlehem Church).
Remembrances in lieu of flowers may be sent to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.

I was a first year teacher in Screven and still Miss Tootle when I met Laurie. We worked together at Screven Elementary for 6 years and after I married John,she welcomed me to the Screven Methodist Church. I took over as communion steward from her when she moved from Screven after Vernon's death. I still have that job and I do it just like she taught me. Time will pass and for you, the memories will stay safe in your hearts. Our prayers are with her family.
