Howard Paul Blatner
April 18, 1957 - June 16, 2015
SAVANNAH - Howard Paul Blatner. 58, died June 16, 2015. Born in Savannah Paul was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Howard Lee and Mary deValinger Blatner. He attended Armstrong State College and had a double masters from George Washington University. He was charter member of the Coastal Empire History Hunters' Assoc. and the Savannah Archeological Club. He was co-founder and first curator of the Great Savannah Exposition, now the Savannah History Museum. He was also owner of Blatner's Antiques for many years.
His father got him interested in searching for artifacts and bottles at an early age and he never outgrew his passion for new discoveries of old objects. He had a passion for history, especially relating to Savannah and early America.
He is survived by his sister, Jacky B. Yglesias, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service at 10:30 on Friday, June 19, at Bonaventure Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 520 Washington Ave., Savannah, Ga. 31405.

I'm so sad to hear of Paul's passing. I could write all day how much Paul meant to Savannah's Historical Preservation, Metal Detecting communities, and to me. Paul taught me so much.
