Celebrating the life of

Sandra Loizakes Dukes

February 29, 1924 - July 12, 2015

Sandra Loizakes Dukes

Sandra Loizakes Dukes, 91, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Candler Hospital. She was born February 29, 1924 in Savannah where she lived all her life. She was christened at St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church and a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. Her husband, Prentice Edward Dukes, II preceded her in death.

A moral woman born in the Depression Era that believed in the doctrine that people did not need to change their values because of the changing times. Her strong will and loving giving nature was known by all.  She enjoyed many hours of gardening, crocheting, sewing and reading. Her resourcefulness and kindness filled her home with love, warmth and character. The belief in God was her daily guide and she lived His Word. The unwavering love for her husband and children was ever present and a positive witness. There was always a song in her heart, as well as, in her beautiful soprano voice that could be heard and enjoyed by those who knew her. She will be missed by many but her memory will be held in reverence as a wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend and many roles of someone that is sitting at the right hand of God.

Surviving are her children, Prentice E. Dukes, III (Linda), Diana D. Lamb (Raymond), Alan B. Dukes (fiance'-Pam), Karen D. Lemack (Michael), many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Dalhover, Mrs. Juliann Roberts, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Mr. Michael Lemack, Mr. Raymond Lamb, Mr. Bradford Butler, III and Mr. Reed Peacock.
